DARLING WOOD FARM
MIDDLEVILLE ON
When does a forest go from a sea of green to a forest full of friends?
Join us for a morning to be among the plants, to remember and relate to the plants you share a home with.
Imagine two hours set aside to listen to birdsong, smell the scent of damp earth, brush up against wildflowers, cooled by the canopy of trees. With each step you soften, and what was once green becomes discernible shades and shapes. Your heart rate settles. The texture of tree bark catches your eye. The purple flower of self-heal has you stop to observe. The smell of crushed cedar leaves on the forest floor reminds you of childhood, a version of yourself you hadn't thought of in years.
We'll wander the forest and fields to be with our plant friends, guided to connect with them through our senses. We'll explore ways of seeing, listening and remembering, and practice reciprocity, as we regularly do with our friends and neighbours.
Whether you're a seasoned plant person or a curious newcomer, you're welcome to begin or continue your journey.
This is a walk home. To the land that's always been yours to remember.

Who we are
Melissa Cornacchia
Melissa is the Honeybee (Melissa in Greek) of the Homestead. She dances with and through life as a homesteader, folk herbalist, forager, naturalist, farm hand, and dancer, most at home wandering the fields and forest, as a wildflower. She gathers people in the Lanark Highlands to learn and create in community, sharing her love of nature and creativity through shared experience, and remembering, together, what it means to belong to the land.
