OH MY GOSH !! Jaxon had so much fun and learned a lot in a controlled environment. (the effects of getting wet in the cold especially, lol HE LOVED IT) He was very animated and excited to tell me all about it when I picked him up. Thanks for having him and fostering such a great environment for our kids.
— ~ Cassandra Postma, youth mom

I just signed them both up for the whole series. They are both super excited to attend!
— Laura ~ Mom

Once a month, youth gather, rain or shine.

The group plans the sessions together - based on their interests and the season.

This gives youth both the autonomy to have a choice and stretches youth to try and learn something new.

This spring, youth can expect to:

  • Forage for common plants in hardwood forest

  • Prepare food over a fire

  • Build shelters

  • Use hand tools

  • Summer Solstice Celebration

Plus the possibility of candle making, games and drama games, creative crafting and more!

Your suggestions, as a youth, are welcome! Tell us what activities you’d like to do and skills you’d like to learn.

Some activities will be weather-dependent.

When are the next two days? I’m going to ask my mom to sign me up!
— Youth participant, Fall 2023

What’s planned for April?

  • The forest will be our muse

  • Explore some of the deeper landscapes and ecosystems of the forest around the Homestead

  • Look for animal tracks and signs

  • Observe spring emerging - including spring ephemerals (bring out the magnifying glasses and mirrors) and trees budding out.

  • Possibly forage a thing or two

  • Nature journalling and games

The group always welcomes new members. Invite your friends to join in the fun!
