Are you 9-14 years old, looking for a place where you can meet friends, build skills and hang out outside?
Saturdays
April 27 | May 25 | June 22
9:30 am - 2:30 pm
Honeybee Homestead
McDonalds Corners
YOUTH GET TO:
Try new things
Build new skills
Tap into their creativity
Make new friends
Hang out outside
Once a month, youth gather, rain or shine.
The group plans the sessions together - based on their interests and the season.
This gives youth both the autonomy to have a choice and stretches youth to try and learn something new.
This spring, youth can expect to:
Forage for common plants in hardwood forest
Prepare food over a fire
Build shelters
Use hand tools
Summer Solstice Celebration
Plus the possibility of candle making, games and drama games, creative crafting and more!
Your suggestions, as a youth, are welcome! Tell us what activities you’d like to do and skills you’d like to learn.
Some activities will be weather-dependent.
What’s planned for April?
The forest will be our muse
Explore some of the deeper landscapes and ecosystems of the forest around the Homestead
Look for animal tracks and signs
Observe spring emerging - including spring ephemerals (bring out the magnifying glasses and mirrors) and trees budding out.
Possibly forage a thing or two
Nature journalling and games
The group always welcomes new members. Invite your friends to join in the fun!
